If you are sourcing custom plastic injection molding and your current supplier misses dates, ships inconsistent batches, or quotes a mold that cannot hold tolerance, the problem usually starts long before the press. It starts in the DFM and the tool steel.
What Custom Injection Molding Means for Buyers
Custom injection molding is not a catalog purchase. A custom injection mold is designed around your part geometry, your resin, your cosmetic requirements, and your annual volume — then proven out with samples before you commit to production.
That has practical consequences for buyers:
- Batch consistency. Cavity-to-cavity variation, warpage, and short shots are tooling and process problems, not luck. They are solved with steel design, cooling layout, and documented process windows.
- Sampling speed. A supplier without in-house tooling waits on someone else's shop. We machine molds, electrodes, and fixtures ourselves, which shortens the loop between design change and sample.
- Mold cost driven by DFM. Poor draft angles, thick walls, and impossible undercuts inflate tool cost and cycle time. Correcting them at the DFM stage costs a fraction of correcting them after steel is cut.
- Communication. Engineering questions answered late cost weeks. You get direct access to our Engineering Team and Sales Team, not a relay chain.
- Compliance. REACH, RoHS, and FDA requirements for food-contact and children's products need to be designed in through material selection and documented, not promised verbally.
One-Stop Capabilities: Design Through Assembly
Product Development and DFM
Our independent design department reviews your 3D data and delivers a DFM report covering wall thickness, draft, gate location, parting line, ejection, cooling, and assembly stack-up. For complex high-precision products, Moldflow analysis is provided free of charge so fill, packing, and warpage behavior are known before tooling starts. Learn more about our DFM and engineering review process.
Mold and Fixture Manufacturing
We manufacture molds up to 15 tons and machine our own fixtures, gauges, and electrodes in-house using CNC machining centers, EDM, and wire cutting. Tooling, engineering changes, and repairs stay in-house.
Injection Molding
Injection machines from Yizumi and Tairui cover 130T to 500T, running 24-hour shifts. We hold documented process parameters per mold and per part, with first-article inspection and in-process patrol inspection backed by traceability records.
Assembly
Secondary operations and assembly are handled on site, so a molded component can leave as a finished, tested, packaged product rather than a part waiting on another vendor. See the full scope on our custom injection molding services page.
Mold Types We Build
- Multi-cavity molds for volume parts where cycle economics matter.
- Auto-unscrewing molds for threaded closures and parts that cannot be stripped.
- 2K molds for two-color and two-material parts molded in one cycle.
- Overmolds for soft-touch grips, seals, and insert bonding.
- Collapsible-core molds for deep-draw parts with internal undercuts.
- Gas-assist molds for thick sections, weight reduction, and sink control.
If your part does not fit a standard category, that is normal for us — that is the point of custom tooling.
Industries We Serve
Outdoor and consumer coolers. Our hard cooler ODM programs cover folding coolers, multi-size hard coolers, and cooler boxes with secondary foam injection — cooler work our foam operation was built around. Our current hard cooler platforms include a 10QT hand-carry at 380 x 255 x 270 mm and a 16QT shoulder-strap model at 380 x 356 x 270 mm. Company-reported: ice remains unmelted for 60 hours at 25°C without frequent opening. Both are custom molds — capacity, color, and LOGO are specified by the customer. Details are on our hard cooler ODM/OEM page.
Medical. We mold components for ultrasound imaging equipment and medical devices, where dimensional repeatability and documentation carry more weight than unit price.
Automotive. Overmolding and 2K capability for roof, interior, and functional components.
Electronics. We handled an HP printer base ECN project in 2020 — see the documented case study for the full scope.
Home goods. Large-format storage containers, where mold size, cooling, and cycle time dominate the business case.
Quality Control and Certifications
Quality is built into the process, not inspected in at the end:
- First-article inspection on every new mold and every significant change.
- In-process patrol inspection with traceability during production runs.
- Process testing and per-product batch trace codes.
- PPAP approval process for customers who require it.
- Measurement equipment on site: CMM (coordinate measuring), vision measuring instruments, calipers, colorimeter, and melt flow indexer.
- Minitab statistical software used for capability and trend analysis.
Maidder holds ISO 9001 and ISO 14001:2015. Material compliance documentation is available for the specified application (e.g., food-contact or children's products), subject to verification. Certificates available upon request.
Cambodia Production Base as an Alternative Manufacturing Origin
According to company information, we offer a Cambodia production base and OEM Cambodia service for customers in North America and Europe managing tariff exposure. Talk to us early if origin planning is part of your landed-cost model — it affects tooling location and approval sequence, and should be reviewed project by project.
How a Project Runs: RFQ to Mass Production
- RFQ. Send 3D data, 2D drawings, resin preference, annual volume, and cosmetic requirements. We return tooling and piece-price quotation, including the setup-fee threshold for small runs.
- DFM and Moldflow. Engineering issues a DFM report and, for complex high-precision parts, free Moldflow analysis. Design changes are agreed before steel is ordered.
- Tooling. Mold design, CNC machining, EDM, and wire cutting run in-house, including fixtures.
- Sampling. T1 samples are measured and reported against the drawing, with first-article inspection documentation.
- Approval. PPAP documentation is submitted where required. You approve samples, color, and any cosmetic standards.
- Mass production. 24-hour shifts, patrol inspection, trace codes per batch.
- Assembly and shipping. Secondary operations, assembly, and packaging are completed on site.
